Bats of Iowa

There are 9 different species of bats found in Iowa, 5 species that hibernate in Iowa over the winter, and 4 that migrate to warmer temperatures. Bats in Iowa are insectivores and help control pest insect populations like mosquitos. On average, bats can eat over 1,000 insects in just one hour!
