No Barriers of Entry: The Nervous Point and Poetry, a community workshop inviting residents of all ages to explore personal and family histories, cultural roots, and the stories of Maplewood and South Orange. The event will feature a panel of award-winning local poets moderated by Eric Shorter, followed by a workshop that encourages participants to collaborate with neighbors using writing prompts and group dialogue.

Poets include:

Eric Shorter, Bronx-born poet and long-time Maplewood resident with publications in numerous independent outlets and anthologies.

Kathy Kremins, a poet, photographer, and independent scholar with multiple chapbooks and full-length collections, including The Curve of Things (CavanKerry Press, 2024) and the forthcoming Sipping a Cloud (Read Furiously, 2026)

Jung Hae Chae, Korean-American poet and essayist, winner of the 2022 Graywolf Press Nonfiction Prize, whose work has appeared in Agni, Guernica, Ploughshares, and The Best American Essays.

Tina Kelley, author of five poetry collections including the upcoming Field Guide to North American Words (Jacar Press, fall 2026) and former New York Times reporter.

Ras Heru Stewart, artist, author, elementary school teacher, and founder of HS1 Arts & Education
