This workshop will emphasize close range combat, especially The Pocket. The Pocket is the closest striking range in martial arts where both opponents will be in range to attack with knees, elbows, and throws. It is often considered the most uncomfortable place to fight.
In this workshop, we will cover:
-Head Movement
-Basic slipping, rolling, and pulling
-Distance changing drills
-Combinations to get in and out of The Pocket
-Defensive and offensive drills in The Pocket
-Getting to the blindside or creating it in The Pocket
-Integrating close range techniques into your fighting style
-Introducing knees, elbows, headbutts
-Introducing throws/takedowns/sweeps
-Creating the clinch and finding throws/takedowns and sweeps
-Defending and countering knees, elbows, headbutts
-Defending and countering the clinch, throws/takedowns, and sweeps
-Technical Sparring Drills in and out of The Pocket
-Optional Free sparring
