Who is Caiata? (Kay-ah-tah)
Caiata (often stylized as CaiatA) is a heavy alternative rock and metal band based in the Cleveland and Elyria areas of Ohio. Known for a sound that blends heavy rock with hints of hip-hop and atmospheric grunge, they have been a staple of the local underground scene for two decades.

Genre: Their music is frequently described as nu-metal, atmospheric alternative rock with heavy metal influences.
Themes: The band's lyrics often explore raw and intense themes, including depression and alienation, particularly in tracks like "Beautiful Funeral".
Signature Songs: Notable tracks include "Monkey" and "Beautiful Funeral".
Key Members
ReD (Vocals): The frontman and primary creative force, often referred to as ReD CaiatA. He remains active in the local scene and is a frequent collaborator with Gregg "G-Kellz" Kelley on the Cleveland’s Finest Podcast.
Joe Hutnyak (Guitar): The longtime song writer and guitarist providing the band's heavy rhythmic foundation.
Andrew "Andy" Marchand (Bass, 1980–2023): A core member who passed away in June 2023 following a battle with ALS.
Connection to the Cleveland Scene
Caiata is deeply connected to the legacy of the city's legendary venues and figures:
Venues: They were a prominent act at Peabody's Concert Club and later performed at The Agora and The Odeon.
Promotion: The band was championed by veteran promoter Gregg "G-Kellz" Kelley, who helped establish them as part of "Cleveland's Finest" rock and metal acts.
Current Status: As of 2026, the band’s work continues to be celebrated, with ReD recently releasing a "2026 ReDMix" of their classic track "Monkey" to mark their enduring influence on the local scene.
