- **Event Description**: The Outer Banks Visitors Bureau is holding three local premieres, one on each island, free of charge. Showings kick off on January 7 at the R/C K*ll Devil Hills in Theater #7 and Theater #1, followed by a Hatteras Island event on January 8 at Cape Hatteras Secondary School and a January 9 showing at The Pioneer Theater in Manteo. Doors open at 6 p.m. all three nights with a showtime of 6:15 p.m. and an approximate run time of one hour.

 

 “This is our way of recognizing the community and the people who make the Outer Banks such a special and compelling place,” explains Lee Nettles, Executive Director. “The Outer Edge is a celebration of our local culture, but also an invitation for those looking to connect and positively contribute to the community."

 

The Outer Edge Season 2 continues where Season 1 left off, introducing new faces, fresh influences, and lesser-known history that helped define the region, along with stories only the Outer Banks could produce. Patrons to the premieres will see locals who pursue their passions and life’s work with lighthouses, natural sciences, lifesaving, pier fishing and skateboarding. The Outer Edge video series calls attention to elements of living on and loving the Outer Banks, showcasing what the people do to care for the islands and conversely, what the islands do for those who emotionally invest in them.

 

“The response to Season 1 has simply been amazing, which is its own reward. The Outer Edge has turned everyday folks into local celebrities with residents and visitors alike,” says Nettles, “however it’s the entire Outer Banks that has the potential to be the real winner if we can encourage more people to visit responsibly and help us keep the OBX special for generations to come.”
