- **Event Description**: In May, our Vault Gallery will feature the largest exhibition of Aaron Canipe's original photography to date.

South of Heaven is a body of work that ranges from 2015 to 2019 and was produced primarily in North Carolina. The exhibit wrestles with notions of Christianity, belief, and an endangered innocence in the gothic landscape. With a mix of dark humor and disappointment, this project is a story of southern discomfort and curiosity at the world around me, and seeks to raise more existential and surreal questions than it answers. This exhibit will be the first time this work will be shown in a public venue.

There will be an opening reception on Friday, May 1 from 6pm to 8pm, where visitors can meet Aaron and view his work. The opening reception is during downtown Manteo's First Friday festivities, and is free and open to the public.​

South of Heaven will be on display in the Vault Gallery through Saturday, May 30.
