The CU-Mansfield MOUNTAINEER BRASS BAND celebrates its 20th anniversary this spring.  We're celebrating by holding a 20th ANNIVERSARY ALUMNI REUNION on Sat.-Sun., June 27-28, 2026.  Rehearsals on Saturday (morning and afternoon) and Sunday (morning), and a 1:00pm concert on Sunday, will be intertwined into the events associated with the 2026 MANSFIELD ALUMNI WEEKEND (June 26-28, https://www.commonwealthu.edu/mansfield-alumni).  Alumni Brass Band participants are encouraged (but not required) to register for the Alumni Weekend events.  Limited dormitory housing will likely be available for those registering for the Alumni Weekend (the Mansfield Alumni Association will be publishing this information soon).  Alumni Brass Band events (**) will tentatively look like:

Participation is open to ALL MANSFIELD BRASS ALUMNI.  Of course, Mountaineer Brass Band alums are encouraged to participate, but this event is open to brass players from all eras of the Mansfield Music heritage.  All are welcome!

REPERTOIRE:  Expect some old favorites representing music performed over the past 20 years and some new, soon-to-be favorites.  Overtures, marches, and pop/jazz selections will all be included.  Digital copies of the music will be available to registered participants by June 1.

INSTRUMENTS:  Let us know if you need to borrow an instrument from the university.  We will accommodate as best we can.  Use of university brass-band-specific instruments - cornets, tenor horns, baritones, Eb tubas - will be limited to the number of university-owned instruments.  Participants may want to be prepared to locate these instruments on their own or use trumpets, F horns (transposing Eb parts), euphoniums, and Bb tubas.  Low brass players should be prepared to read both treble and bass clef parts (get those Arban trumpet books out and practice your trumpet fingerings. A personnel list (with specific part assignments) will be distributed soon after the June 1 registration deadline.

CONCERT ATTIRE:  Event t-shirt and all black.  

REGISTRATION FEE:  A $25 fee will be collected on Saturday, June 27 to help defray the costs of the event (event t-shirt, Saturday lunch, stage hands, music printing, etc).

Please register for the ALUMNI BRASS BAND EVENT by June 1, 2026 to secure a spot in the ensemble.  Instrumentation will NOT be limited to the traditional 30-piece ensemble (we hope too be MUCH bigger), but we would like to maintain a balanced ensemble.
