About the Programme:
Building Creative Futures is a two-part professional development series supporting visual artists and makers based in, from, or connected with Mansfield. The sessions combine practical skills development, networking, and peer exchange to help strengthen your creative practice, confidence, and local connections.
You don’t need to attend both sessions, but it’s encouraged!
Session Overview – Building Creative Foundations
This first session focuses on developing sustainable creative structures and networks, equipping artists with the tools to establish and grow their practice.
Programme:
🖼 10 – 10.30am: Arrive early to explore exhibitions and meet the museum team.
👋 10.30 – 10.40am: Welcome from Mansfield Museum & Art Gallery.
💡 10.40 – 12pm: Setting Up and Sustaining Creative Enterprises with Daniel Sean Kelley
Learn how to:
• Establish creative CICs and co-operatives
• Access and activate creative workspace
• Secure funding and partnerships for sustainable practice
🥪 12 – 12.45pm: Lunch break
🤝 12.45 – 2.30pm: Networking & Creative Exchange with No Jobs in the Arts
Practical guidance on discussing, sharing, and presenting your work effectively, plus a group crit and informal networking.
🗣 2.30 – 3pm: Closing reflections.
Contributors:
🎨 Daniel Sean Kelley – Artist and arts worker based in Leicester. Leads development at Two Queens gallery and works with CASE to support co-operatives and social enterprises across the East Midlands.
🖋 No Jobs in the Arts – Midlands-based organisation supporting early-career creatives through events, exhibitions, and publications. Their work has been acquired by the Tate and the Wellcome Collection.
