In dieser Konzertreihe trifft Mannheim auf Talente der jungen Jazzszene. Gemeinsam mit Musikern der Mannheimer Szene bildet der Gast eine einzigartige Band und erarbeitet ein völlig neues Programm. So werden die verschiedenen Szenen miteinander verbunden - Einflüsse und Vorstellungen der Musik ausgetauscht. Eine spannende Erfahrung, welche man nicht verpassen darf.
Zum nächsten Mannheim Meets lädt die Band Darius Blair ein.
Darius Blair wurde 2002 in Wiesbaden geboren und wuchs in der Rhein-Main-Region auf. 2018 erhielt er den ersten Preis beim Solo- und Combowettbewerb der Veranstaltung Jugend jazzt in Hessen, und 2019 bei der Bundesbegegnung desselben Wettbewerbs erhielt er u. a. den Solistenpreis der WDR Big Band. 2020 wurde er mit dem renommierten Frankfurter Jazzstipendiumausgezeichnet – als bislang jüngster Preisträger mit 18 Jahren.
In seinem Quartett und weiteren Projekten kombiniert er Eigenkompositionen mit neu interpretierten Jazz-Standards, wobei Improvisation und das Zusammenspiel mit anderen Musikerinnen und Musikern im Vordergrund stehen.

In this concert series, Mannheim meets talented young jazz musicians. Together with musicians from the Mannheim scene, the guest forms a unique band and develops a completely new program. This connects the different scenes - influences and ideas about music are exchanged. An exciting experience that is not to be missed.
The band has invited Darius Blair to perform at the next Mannheim Meets event. Darius Blair was born in Wiesbaden in 2002 and grew up in the Rhine-Main region. In 2018, he won first prize in the solo and combo competition at the Jugend jazzt event in Hesse, and in 2019, at the national competition of the same event, he won the WDR Big Band Soloist Prize, among others. In 2020, he was awarded the prestigious Frankfurt Jazz Scholarship—the youngest recipient to date at the age of 18.In his quartet and other projects, he combines his own compositions with reinterpreted jazz standards, focusing on improvisation and interaction with other musicians.
