Eugene Chadbourne aus North Carolina begann seine Karriere mit Rock and Roll, wurde jedoch schnell der konventionellen Formen müde. Er studierte Genres wie Blues, Country, Bluegrass, Free Jazz und Noise und synthetisierte all diese vielfältigen Einflüsse zu einem eigenen Stil. 
Sein Hang zum schrägen Humor zeigt sich mit Albumtiteln wie „Locked in a Dutch Coffee-Shop“ oder „LSD Country & Western“ oder noch besser „Country Music From The World Of Islam“.
In den 1980er Jahren war Chadbourne teil der Band Shockabilly. Mit der er vier herausragende Alben veröffentlichte, die das Genre Psychobilly ins kosmisch-galaktische erweitern sollten.

Chadbourne hat mit zahlreichen Künstlern zusammengearbeitet, darunter John Zorn, Fred Frith, Carla Bley, Toshinori Kondo, Camper Van Beethoven, Jello Biafra, Turbonegro, They Might Be Giants, Violent Femmes, Kevin Blechdom und viele mehr. Seine Discografie umfasst über 400 Veröffentlichungen.

Chadbourne wird begleitet von Schroeder am Schlagzeug, der auch schon bei der Dad Horse Experience im Volksbad die Stöcke schwang.
