“Hope just means another world might be possible, not promised.” -Rebecca Solnit
If fear of the darkness has been a part of your experience, as it is for many of us, how was that learned or sensed? Did someone model or teach you that fear and anxiety is how to respond to what is dark, mysterious, uncertain, or unknown? Together, we will explore how imagination, empathy, integrity, non-attachment, commitment and compassion are ingredients for choosing to be hopeful throughout times we are faced with real and deep uncertainty.
Valerie Kaur asks, "What if this darkness is not the darkness of the tomb, but the darkness of the womb? What if our America is not dead but a country still waiting to be born?"
How can we, together, commit the work of justice as one, ongoing long labor, while sustaining ourselves through the unknown? This multigenerational service may provide us with more questions than answers, but we will explore the idea of committing to hope and laboring for liberation as a community!
