На встрече прозвучат отрывки из любимых книжек бабушек и мам, дедушек и пап—вместе с новыми стихами и прозой для детей. Все это—в только что опубликованной книге A Hundred Years of Childhood: An Anthology of Russian Writing for Children, 1917-2017.

Ольга Бухина и Андреа Лану—составители антологии детской литературы в переводах с русского на английский—расскажут о том, какие произведения вошли в этот сборник и почему. Во встрече примет участие переводчик Илья Бернштейн. Студенты Коннектикутского колледжа почитают вслух с детьми на двух языках. А разговор со взрослыми пойдет о принципах перевода и о том, что читать детям—по-русски и по-английски. Приглашаются все, и особенно двуязычные семьи—приходите всей семьей!

Do you want to know how Kornei Chukovsky and Samuil Marshak sound in English? Are you curious to know what contemporary poets are writing for children in Russian?

We will read excerpts from the favorite books of grandmothers and moms, grandfathers and dads, as well as new poetry and prose for children. Texts are from the newly published book, A Hundred Years of Childhood: An Anthology of Russian Writing for Children, 1917-2017.

Two editors of the anthology, Olga Bukhina and Andrea Lanoux, will discuss these selections and why they chose these specific texts for the book. One of the anthology’s translators, Ilya Bernstein, will join us in reading excerpts from the book. Students from Connecticut College will read to children in both English and Russian. Additionally, we will discuss principles of translation and books to read with children in both languages. All are welcome to this bilingual event for the entire family!

? Admission: $10 — all proceeds support the White Rabbit.
