Start developing your skills to one day compete in the Jackman Classic!
The race begins at full tide from Mangawhai Tavern and travels to Picnic Bay. The final finish line will be confirmed on the morning of the event. Older competitors may continue around Head Rock and return to Picnic Bay (weather permitting).

This event is open to all classes of self-powered craft — including skis, paddleboards, canoes, SUPs, or anything you can paddle without a motor or sail.

Eligibility: Open to Under 16 Surf Lifesaving members (age as at 1 January 2026)

Date: Sunday, 19 April 2026

Arrival Time: 8:30am
Please allow time to have your craft ready at the water

Briefing: 8:45am

Start Time: 9:15am (shotgun start)

Important Information
Cancellations due to bad weather will be posted on our Facebook pages the night before
High-visibility vests, rash shirts, or neoprene are compulsory
A PFD is recommended for those who are not confident swimmers. A parent must accompany their child.
A PFD must be worn by entrants who do not hold a current 200m badge

BBQ Fundraiser
Junior Surf will be running a sizzle after the event
Sausage - $3.00 each
Hot Milo - $2.00 a cup
