Sketching – The Basics of Shape and Form, is the first workshop in this four-part series. Designed to provide young creatives with a solid art foundation. This workshop is suitable for beginners, while also being comprehensive enough for experienced young artists seeking inspiration and information about plein air painting,

Join Abigail Phillips and Xanthe Turner as they teach you:

• How to deconstruct complex 3D objects into basic drawn shapes,

• How to utilise those basic shapes to accurately depict your subject

While seeming simple at face-value, sketching is a fundamental building block for artists. Everything in this world – as well as many things that can only be imagined – are all made up of simple shapes at their core. Once you understand how to observe an object and break it down to its basic components, achieving perspective and depth in your art become easier.

Participants will all receive an A5 sketchbook, as well as a pencil, sharpener, and eraser, to use during the workshop and take home to enable them to continue developing their artistic skills. Participants will also receive an opportunity to engage with Plein Air Down Under as a youth artist, once they have attended the workshop.

Participation in all four workshops is not required, but it is strongly encouraged!
