Moonlight Productions invites you to audition for our upcoming cyberpunk-inspired production of William Shakespeare’s Othello — a dark, electric reimagining of love, jealousy, and manipulation in a futuristic Venetian dystopia directed by Ashley Osbourn Dukes .

🎬 What to Prepare:
Please prepare a 1–2 minute Shakespearean monologue and bring your theatre résumé. Cold readings from the script may be requested.
This production will explore themes of trust, jealousy, race, sexism and manipulation — showcasing the timeless power of Shakespeare’s language and characters.

⚔️ CHARACTER BREAKDOWN
Othello (Lead, 30s–40s)
A respected general in the Venetian army. Noble, confident, and deeply in love with Desdemona. His passion and honor make his eventual fall all the more tragic.
Desdemona (Lead, 20s–30s)
The daughter of a Venetian senator who defies her father to marry Othello. Intelligent, sincere, and steadfast in her love, even in the face of false accusations.
Iago (Lead, 30s–40s)
Othello’s ensign and trusted companion. Cunning, manipulative, and driven by jealousy, Iago sets in motion the events that lead to tragedy.
Cassio (Supporting, 20s–30s)
Othello’s loyal lieutenant — charming, disciplined, and admired by many. His innocence makes him an easy target for Iago’s schemes.
Emilia (Supporting, 30s–40s)
Iago’s wife and Desdemona’s attendant. Honest, practical, and brave, she ultimately becomes the voice of truth.
Roderigo (Supporting, 20s–40s)
A wealthy Venetian in love with Desdemona. Foolish and impulsive, he is easily manipulated by Iago.
Brabantio (Supporting, 40s–60s)
A Venetian senator and Desdemona’s father. Proud and protective, his disapproval of her marriage sets early conflict into motion.
