The artists :
CLARTROME JACALAN is a cellist of the Manila Symphony Orchestra and the Manila Symphony Junior Orchestra (MSJO) who was part of the award-winning tour group in 2018 and 2024.
Hailing from Cagayan de Oro City, he started as a cello scholar of Lourdes College Strings before proceeding to study at the University of Santo Tomas Conservatory of Music with the degree of Bachelor of Music in Cello Performance under Arnold Josue, where he graduated Magna Cum Laude in 2024.
He was a prize-winner of the 2023 National Music Competitions for Young Artists (NAMCYA) and has attended masterclasses with Claus Kanngeisser from Germany, Victor Coo from Taiwan, and Zoltán Onczay from Hungary.

JET STEPHEN CHONG, a Filipino-Chinese pianist, seeks to create meaningful and transformative experiences through music, shaped by years of intensive training and a wide range of performance engagements. His musical journey has been marked by numerous accolades from national and international competitions. Among his most distinguished honors are the Grand Prize and Special Prize for Best Interpretation of Contest Piece at the National Music Competition for Young Artists (NAMCYA) in the Philippines, as well as first prizes in the Pro-Mozart Society of Atlanta’s Scholarship Competition (USA), Paris International Music Competition, UK International Music Competition, and the King’s Peak International Music Competition. Additional top awards include those from the Atlanta Music Club Competition, Music Teachers National Association-Georgia, Georgia Music Teachers Association, Singapore International Music Competition, London Classical Music Competition, UCSI International Piano Competition, Steinway Youth Piano Competition, and the competitions organized by the Piano Teachers’ Guild of the Philippines Foundation Inc. (PTGPFI).

He made his orchestral debut at age 15 with the Manila Symphony Orchestra and later performed Tchaikovsky’s First Piano Concerto with the ABS-CBN Philharmonic Orchestra. Jet also appeared in the Mozart Concerto Series (2024) and Beethoven Concerto Series (2025), both held at Manila Pianos. His solo recitals have taken him to the Philippines, Singapore, and the United States, including the Dame Myra Hess Memorial Concert Series in Chicago under the FilipinoAmerican Music Foundation’s Young Artist roster, and the Saturdays at Steinway Recital Series in Makati as a top prizewinner of Steinway’s Young Artist Competition. Other major venues include the Cultural Center of the Philippines, Philippine International Convention Center, YST Conservatory Concert Hall, and Manila Pianos.

A passionate advocate for music education and community engagement, Jet has been involved in outreach projects including Helping Through Music: A Benefit Concert for ChildHope PH and Museo Pambata (2023), and served as a clinician for the Waves and Melodies music camp by RMTC Studio in Albay (June 2024). He also enjoys chamber music and collaboration, having performed in various collaborative concerts.

He was a member of the University of Georgia’s New Music Ensemble in a performance of Paul Richards’ Ouroboros at the UGA New Music Festival, and recently participated in Chamber Music Athens, a tenday festival of concerts and classes where he received coachings from members of the esteemed Ying Quartet.

With twenty years of piano study, Jet has studied with Dr. Spencer Myer, Albert Tiu, Anthony Say, and Mary Evans Villalon. An alumnus of Singapore’s Yong Siew Toh Conservatory and Indiana University’s Jacobs School of Music, he is currently pursuing his doctorate at the University of Georgia’s (UGA) Hugh Hodgson School of Music under Dr. Alan Woo and Dr. Liza Stepanova. Alongside his graduate studies, he serves on the faculty of the UGA Community Music School and holds a graduate assistantship in Interdisciplinary Arts Research, supporting and mentoring interdisciplinary initiatives through the UGA Arts Collaborative.
