Stillhouse Junkies, Genuine Cowhide, and Mean Irene to be featured at the 3rd annual Mixed in Mancos on Saturday, March 7
The Mancos Creative District is excited to host Mixed in Mancos 2026 on Saturday, March 7. Mixed in Mancos is an annual celebration of local music presented by the Mancos Creative District. During the first full weekend of March, three bands from the Four Corners region perform at the historic Mancos Opera House. This event is recorded, and a live album is later released on CD and vinyl. The craft of songwriting is promoted through the selection of original tunes, and local visual art is featured on the album.
A songwriting panel kicks off the festivities on Friday, March 6 from 4:00-6:00 at the Mancos Commons. Songwriters from this and previous year’s bands will discuss the various methods used to create songs. Mark Stevens, of the Mancos Creative District, will lead the songwriting panel, and this event is free to the public. Afterwards, everyone is encouraged to get a refreshment at Mancos Brewing Company.
The main event will occur on Saturday, March 7, with the doors of the Mancos Opera House opening at 5:00.
Mixed in Mancos 2026 will feature a blend of acoustic and electric instrumentation, with each band putting their original spin on Americana.
Mean Irene (6:00) is a dynamic Americana band based out of Mancos, CO. Formed around the powerful vocals and songwriting of front woman Sunny Gable, the band blends traditional country and folk influences with modern rock and pop sensibilities. Mean Irene features Guy Ewing (bass), Sunny Gable (guitar, mandolin, fiddle), Jeff Moorehead (dobro), and Dennis Unsworth (drums).
Stillhouse Junkies (7:30) are acoustic adventurers that explore the worlds between roots, bluegrass, Texas swing, blues, and rock. Touring extensively from their Durango, CO home, their free-flowing musical interplay and improvisation make every show unique as the trio weave through high-energy, intricately composed original songs, never taking the same path twice. Formed in 2017, the band consists of Fred Kosak (guitar, mandolin), Alissa Wolf (fiddle), and Jeanette Adams (bass).
Genuine Cowhide (9:00) was spawned from the honky-tonks, roadhouses, and grange halls in Austin, TX. After moving to Dolores, CO, Genuine Cowhide has been the outlet for Dale X Allen's musical adventures since the first release, “Modern Sounds in Hillbilly and Western” in 2005. Allen describes his music as “nitro-twang”, somewhere between “twangy rock & roll” and “trashy country-hillbilly honkytonk spaghetti western swing.” The current lineup features Tracy Wiebeck (bass), Corey Duran (drums), Moe Cooley (acoustic & electric guitar), and Dale X Allen (electric guitar).
Local refreshments will be available, courtesy of Mancos Brewing, Fenceline Cider, and Mancos Liquors. DeWayne Jackson, brewer of Mancos Brewing, will be crafting a special beer for Mixed in Mancos 2026.
This is an all-ages show. 21+ patrons must present an ID to consume alcohol.
