How is history used and abused, both positively and negatively, to create and cement identities, justify beliefs or decisions, and inspire creative thought and action? This all-day event will explore these questions by considering the ways in which Manchester’s past has been invoked to create stories and myths about what Manchester is, who Mancunians are, and what a future Manchester might look like.The event is being run by Dr Emily Jones, Senior Lecturer in Modern History at the University of Manchester, who will be canvassing for your opinion on the day, and there will also be a range of talks and creative workshops, and opportunities for attendees to share their stories and ideas.
