About the event

Trial of "Operation Ouch" Accessibility Features
Join SIM to trial their new audio description and tactile resources for the "Operation Ouch: Brains, Bogies and You" exhibition.

About this Event

The Science and Industry Museum would like to invite families who have sight loss or visual impairments to try their new audio description trail and test out some tactile resources for their "Operation Ouch: Brains, Bogies and You" interactive exhibition!

The museum has been working with families from Henshaws and some fantastic young people from Manchester Youth Zone to create an Audio Description trail for their Operation Ouch exhibition. By joining this exclusive event, you can try and provide feedback on these new accessibility features before they are introduced to the public.

Eligibility:
  • Children age 5 - 11 years who have sight loss or visual impairments
  • Willingness to trial some activities and approaches (including SIM's child-led audio description)

Benefits:
  • Free exclusive entry to the Operation Ouch exhibition (exclusive from 2:30 to 3:30 but you are welcome to stay for as long as you want)
  • Siblings welcome to join together with the visually impaired child and parents
  • Cake, brew and chat with the SIM team after the trial session

Important Notes:
  • This is only a trial session for SIM to receive feedback from families. The exact nature of the accessibility offer will be developed in response to the trials.
  • You're responsible for your own children's safety throughout the session.
  • Upon booking, we will send you contact info of the Science and Industry Museum (SIM) representative in charge of this event. You will need to confirm your attendance with them before going.
