- **Event Description**: In the south of France during medieval times lived a group of people, men and women, known as the Cathars, whose lives were based on what they considered to be the true teachings of Jesus.

They believed that life is a mystical experience and that God is in all of us, and that we can connect with our Godself at any time if we just know how. They had no formal church buildings. The men and women known as the Parfaits spread their teachings by word of mouth in the open air, in houses, caves and wherever they felt they could share their message of "The Way", as it was known.

Unfortunately, they became so popular that they were seen as a threat to the institution of the Church and were hunted down by the Inquisition. All we have left of them today are their mountain strongholds, with Montségur being the most famous.

However, their presence and influence throughout history could not be suppressed, and people remain fascinated by the real story of the Cathars to this day.

In this talk with researcher Gill Harbach, we will explore what the Cathar teachings were and how they came about, their shared interests with the Knights Templar, and how their values and influence remain relevant today.
