THE BATS / LINDA SMITH / THE GABYS / ALL GIRLS ARSON CLUB
A rare UK performance from legendary New Zealand band the Bats. From their early releases on Flying Nun records in the 80's they have been making consistantly great music for over 40 years, with their latest release Corner Coming Up sounding as fresh and inspired as their first record.
Support comes from Linda Smith, a pioneer of home recording and lo-fi alterative music who released music on Slumberland / Harriet Records in the 90's. Her music has a quietly bewitching quality and paste magazine called her 'a hidden treasure of America's pop underground'.
If this wasn't enough, liverpool's lo-fi pop duo the Gabys are playing. Their sound is a summery mix of the Velvet Underground and the Pastels, with a definite knod to 90's Olympia and just a hint of my favourite unknown band the Haircuts.
And topping the line up off is the fantastic All Girls Arson Club, sounding like a mix between the Moldy Peaches and Beat Happening, singing songs about supermarkets and arcade games. Their live performances are not to be missed!
