(*for more details on Slam Free or Die, scroll to the bottom of this description) About the Feature: Brenden, also known as Balanc3, is an International Poet, Multi-lingual Educator, and Fire Fighter in Bridgeport, CT. Balanc3 has curated poetry events, facilitated creative writing workshops in English & Spanish, and has featured and performed in multiple cities across the world. As a multi-lingual educator, Brenden has taught English as a second language & English Literature in several continents tailoring his work to demonstrate the importance of self expression & the power of poetry as a universal language. As a full time Father & Fire Fighter, Brenden spends his time growing as a parent, serving his community, & creating experiences that encourage others to become the authors of their own destiny. Our second feature on this date will be the celebrated "Big Money" Kurt! Mass born, New Hampshire raised, with a brief stint in Georgia. Kurt is a first-generation queer Haitian American, anime enthusiast, gamer, comic book reader, and all-around creative type beat. A self-proclaimed silly goose and five-time heavyweight cuddle champion, they are exuberant, loud, caring, and occasionally mischievous. Through honesty, humor, and vulnerability, Kurt uses poetry as a way to heal themselves and, hopefully, others. They believe in the continual betterment of self—striving to be just one percent better every day. If the people who meet them had to describe them in five words, those words would be: Goofy. Warm. Patient. Genuine. And the Sun. We may have other special guests on this night in celebration of Juneteenth, a federal holiday that commemorates the emancipation of certain slave populations in the United States. Accessibility Information: The entrance to our show is at the back of the building with no stairs to enter the space. There is a ramp through the main bar for access to the ADA compliant bathrooms. About Slam Free Or Die - Poetry Open Mic & Slam: Slam Free Or Die @ Stark Brewing Company is a series of open mic nights for poets and spoken-word artists every Thursday night in Manchester, NH. There is an open mic every night and poetry slams are also held several times a month. Doors open and sign-ups begin at 7pm with open mic beginning at 8pm.
