However, research shows that LGBTQ+ young people’s participation in sport, movement and PE is much lower than their peers, leading to poorer health outcomes and higher absenteeism.At our second LGBTQ+ Youth Summit last year, we wanted to explore the relationship between movement and LGBTQ+ young people. What we found from the summit, and our wider work with LGBTQ+ young people was this:LGBTQ+ young people are not adverse to physical activities per se, it is more that there is an actual or perceived block, barrier, fear or apprehension in the access to the activity.Given that for many young people, PE is one of their first access routes into physical activity, we now want to explore this from the other side.
