WHAT IS THE FORMAT?
The workshop is Pilates based comprising of:
Posture and warm up
• Improve alignment and posture for low risk, effective running.
• Practice exercises and stretches to prepare for our runs.
Tailored exercise phase
• Encourage proper alignment to reduce risk of joint and muscle injuries.
• Develop glute and adductor activation to improve stability when running.
• Upper body work to improve your running stance.
• Increase pelvic stability and core strength, essential for running.
• Build up and mobilise feet, ankles and calves.
• Improve joint mobility to achieve good range when running.
Cool down
• Stretches to ease tight muscles.
• Cool down exercise flow to promote recovery for runners.
Foam roller massage
Using foam rollers and other massage techniques to:
• Ease our sore muscles and tension in feet, back, hips and legs using myofascial release.
• Improve range of movement with dynamic and static stretches.
You will be able to take learnings away and continue some of these healthy practices, for example, to help reduce DOMS.
WHAT LEVEL IS IT?
• The class is tailored for regular runners who want to improve their performance and technique.
• It will include various levels to suit most, however it is geared more towards an intermediate audience so a reasonable level of fitness is recommended.
• No experience of Pilates is necessary.
