NRA Basic Pistol Course (if you have a current certificate, this will suffice) Pre-Requisite Class for NRA Basic Pistol Certification NRA Basic Pistol Course – LTC-002 In order to take this class you must sign up on our website AND the NRA website here: https://www.nrainstructors.org/Search.aspx The NRA Basics of Pistol Shooting is intended for all individuals regardless of previous shooting experience or NRA-affiliation. This course is at least 8-hours long and includes classroom and range time learning to shoot revolvers and semi-automatic pistols. Students learn NRA’s rules for safe gun handling; pistol parts and operation; ammunition; shooting fundamentals; range rules; shooting from the bench rest position, and two handed standing positions; cleaning the pistol; and continued opportunities for skill development. Students will receive the NRA Guide to the Basics of Pistol Shooting handbook, NRA Gun Safety Rules, and take a Basics of Pistol Shooting Student Examination, and course completion certificate. Students should bring: Their own handgun but we also have a wide selection of rentals if you do not own a handgun At least 50 rounds of ammo. This class will teach the knowledge, skills, and attitude necessary for conducting NRA Basic Pistol classes. Before coming to class, ensure you: possess and demonstrate a solid background in firearm safety and shooting skills, are intimately familiar with each pistol action type, and demonstrate solid and safe firearms handling skills. Attendance in this course is not a guarantee of certification; you must successfully pass all coursework, pass a shooting qualification, and pass a written exam to become a certified instructor.
