The Liverpool Commonwealth Association (LCA) and Liverpool John Moores University (LJMU) School of Education are excited to announce their collaboration in hosting a Symposium on Mental Health and Wellbeing, which will take place on Friday April 26th, 2024 from 10:00am -3:00pm.

Theme: Enhancing The Mental Health & Wellbeing of Commonwealth Members & Students in Liverpool & Beyond

The objective of the symposium is to unite leading health and wellbeing experts, professionals, community groups and students, to foster the mental health and wellbeing of Commonwealth members and students throughout the Liverpool City Region (LCR) and beyond. The primary aim is to enhance mental health and wellbeing, providing improved access to local services and fostering emotional, mental, and physical resilience.

This complimentary symposium aims to bring together diverse communities and professionals through collaborative efforts and knowledge exchange. Key topics will focus on the enhancement of mental health and emotional and mental resilience. Collaborating with LJMU School of Art and Design, the event will explore wellbeing approaches through art, featuring interactive workshops, and opportunities for therapeutic taster sessions.

About The Host:
The Liverpool Commonwealth Association is a network of individuals and organisations committed to engaging with and promoting the interests of the Commonwealth diaspora communities in the City of Liverpool and the wider 6 local Councils of the Liverpool City Region (LCR), and the North of England.The six (6) local Councils of Liverpool, Wirral, Knowsley, Sefton, St Helens and Halton comprise the Liverpool City Region.The Association’s main aim is promoting community cohesion and a sense of belonging amongst the region’s Commonwealth diaspora communities thus empowering its people to contribute effectively to the region’s economic and social agenda. This will also enable stronger links between the region’s Commonwealth diaspora communities and the Commonwealth of Nations, leading to particular focus on increasing two-way trade, cultural and educational links and any other links designed to enhance the role of the Commonwealth in the strategic plan of the entire Liverpool City Region. The Association also has the wider aim of having Liverpool declared the UK’s first official Commonwealth City and thus promoting the City Region as a Commonwealth Region.
