This event will take place at the Lowry Building, Manchester School of Art, Manchester Metropolitan University, Boundary Street West, Manchester M15 6LS.

Creative UK are delighted to be supporting an event that will bring forward ideas to arrest the decline in the representation of the working class within the UK TV industry.

IS TV FOR THE WORKING CLASS? – BRIDGING TV’S CLASS DIVIDE.

Friday 21 November, Manchester

The day-long event will bring together industry practitioners, academics and innovators, to explore the challenges faced by working class talent, and the cultural and financial benefits of a next generation approach to development, production and distribution that embraces working class ideas, experiences, stories and perspectives.

We are delighted to welcome Tim Davie CBE, Director-General, BBC, Caroline Norbury OBE, CEO, Creative UK; Tracy Brabin, Mayor of West Yorkshire; Andy Burnham, Mayor of Greater Manchester and Steve Rotheram, Mayor of the Liverpool City Region, amongst other industry and academic guests, who will join in panel discussions.

The keynote speech will be delivered by Sir Phil Redmond, the creator of Grange Hill, Brookside and Hollyoaks.
