- **Event Description**: The Gallery at Equinox Village is excited to present an exhibit featuring works by The Hedden Family. A Gallery Opening with the artist, live music performed by a Hedden family member, appetizers and refreshments will be held Thursday, March 19 from 5 – 6 p.m. The Gallery Opening is free and open to the public. The exhibit will remain on display until May 6. The Gallery is open 7 days a week from 9 a.m. – 5 p.m. and is free to visit.

The Hedden Family always had an artistic inclination; dabbling in everything from woodworking and furniture building to painting, photography, needlepoint, wood carving, and even stonewall building. Most projects were done for enjoyment rather than profit, though a few family members found creative and financial success. One went on to attend the Rhode Island School of Design and is now a full-time
professional artist. All pieces in this show represent the family’s artistic legacy.

Bob’s artistic journey began in early childhood and thanks to the encouragement from his parents and grandparents, he never stopped.
He took every art class available in high school and later continued with a few art history courses in college.

After graduating, Bob joined the family plumbing, heating, and Oilheat business, where he became recognized for his expertise in efficient
home heating systems. Painting remained a consistent creative outlet during evenings and weekends for relaxation.

A family friend in New London, CT, who was a fan of Bob’s paintings, convinced him to enter the Mystic Art Show—a prestigious outdoor
event that takes over the town for one weekend each summer. As a first-time exhibitor, Bob was placed on a quiet residential side street with
little foot traffic, resulting in zero sales. To add insult to injury, near the end of the day a passing dog lifted its leg on his watercolor-on-wood
display and ruined several pieces. Bob took that as the universe’s way of saying not to turn his art avocation into a vocation—and he’s been
painting for fun ever since.

In 1999, he added stonewall building to his creative repertoire.

Bob has a large family and one very special person who treasure his work, so nothing in this show is for sale. It’s simply here for you to
enjoy.
