For others, it is a language, a family, a community, a collection of memories or simply the feeling that you no longer need to explain who you are.At the heart of the conversation is Haha Britain, a collection of forty personal stories written by Chinese people living in Britain. Each story offers a different perspective on British life and invites us to listen to the diversity of experiences within the Chinese community and to consider why these stories matter.The discussion will also explore what it means to grow up between identities. Through the experiences shared on the Not Made in China podcast, we will hear about adoptees reconnecting with their heritage and navigating questions of identity, family, home and belonging.Moderator: Dr Xiaobing Wang - senior lecturer (associate professor) in the Department of Economics at the University of Manchester, and the research director at Manchester China Institute.Panel Speakers:Dr. Qian Liu – Contributing Author, Haha Britain, Associate Professor of Translation and Chinese StudiesShaosheen Jewel Quirk – Speaker representing The Mothers' Bridge of Love Adoption Dialogue Programme, Host of podcast Not Made in ChinaBook Sales & DonationsAll proceeds from book sales and all donations received during this event will be paid directly into The Mothers' Bridge of Love charity account.This is a Joint event also presented by:  promotes excellence in China studies at the University of Manchester.
