About this Event

Connecting Communities Through Integral Ecology (Laudato Si’) in the UK will raise awareness of ecological activities taking place within local communities by forging relations that connects faith communities, academia, environmental organisations, and the wider public around shared ecological responsibility. The overall outcome would be to amplify existing initiatives, reduce fragmentation, and foster collaboration across social, cultural, and institutional boundaries.

Over two days, participants are invited to a one-day conference and a one-day workshop including guest lectures, knowledge exchange sessions and spiritual conversations.

Who is Invited?
Everyone is welcome—especially individuals and groups with a passion for protecting the natural environment in line with Laudato Si’, including faith-based communities, environmental advocates, academics, students, and the public in Greater Manchester.

Objectives:

  1. Bring together individuals and groups within the Church and academic communities who are interested in the theological and spiritual dimensions of environmental stewardship.
  1. Raise awareness of existing environmental initiatives and promote integration and collaboration.
  1. Reflect on environmental challenges through the lens of faith, particularly through the work of the Climate and Spirit Group.

Keynote Address: Integral Ecology and The Integral Ecology Research Network

Guest Presentations - Addressing Objectives 1 and 2: Faith and ecology in dialogue- exploring shared values and building a collaborative network

Panel/discussion session

Refreshments & Networking

Guest Speaker – Addressing Objective 2: Ecological storytelling

Lecture Addressing objective 3: Seeing environmental challenges through the lens of faith.

Summary and concluding remarks for Day 1.

Third session: Restoring the integrity of life in Jesus

Fourth session: Small group spiritual conversations

Final session: Facilitators bring back responses from small groups; wrap up and closing prayer
