Manchester band Caulbearers celebrate the release of new single ‘Next World’ with a launch party & live gig featuring members of The Earlies, Elf Traps & Beats & Pieces Big Band.
Based on the songs of producer and vocalist Damien Mahoney, the ensemble weave together elements of hip-hop, funk, dub, soul and jazz, with plenty of grit and discord in the mix.
Their sound has been described as …”roots music from the rainy city… psychedelic soul with poetic, social observation.”
‘Next World’ is an intense and epic breakbeat-driven ode to the importance of direct action and protest, which were central to the band’s emergence in Hulme, MCR in the mid 2000s, as part of the Single Cell Collective. The single features musicians John Ellis on piano, Denmark-based violinist Anne Eltard and vocalist Ruth Blake alongside a core of regular Caulbearers contributors.

Caulbearers create music that shines like a mystical mosaic and whose fragmented pieces create a visceral, celebratory and abstract work of art.”
