Book Club - 'The Discomfort Zone'

JCI Manchester is launching a book club! There’s such a wealth of amazing books out there looking at business, personal development and productivity so we thought that rather than letting these books collect dust on shelves or more likely that we never actually get round to that 'must read' that we’d create book club. We will be reviewing a book a month to encourage members to take the time out to read and we’ll then meet every third Thursday of the month to then discuss what we’ve learned and how we can apply the material both in and outside of our working lives.

March book:

Our first book club read will be the “The Discomfort zone”  by Farrah Storr. The book looks at how to break through - and embrace - moments of discomfort to take on challenges you never thought possible, and achieve astonishing success along the way. Which to kick off the book club seemed like a perfect start!

How will JCI book club work?

Get hold of a copy of the book and then read your way through at your own pace, so when we get together we can then discuss any interesting ideas and takeaways. Don’t worry you don’t need to have read it all!

Beastro our book club venue have very kindly offered to provide breakfast pastries and attendees can then purchase their own hot drinks.

Non members are welcome and the £5 booking fee will be donated to our charity partner of the year Anxiety UK.

At the end of each book club we’ll then select the next month’s book and will be asking members to share their book recommendations. So if you have any suggestions please drop us a line on Twitter
