About the event

A Reflective Clay Workshop: Migration Memories
A gentle, screen-free space to slow down, feel grounded, and explore what it means to move, start over, belong, and experience displacement.

About this Event

About this Workshop

We all carry memories of movement: across countries, cities, homes, relationships, or inner landscapes. Migration doesn’t always mean crossing borders; sometimes it’s about starting over, leaving something behind, or learning how to belong again.

In this gentle, hands-on clay workshop, we’ll explore these themes through touch and form: what it feels like to arrive, to leave, to carry, and to root.

There’s no goal to make something perfect. The process itself becomes the reflection.

Why Join?

This session is for anyone curious about migration, memory, and emotional expression through making. No prior experience with clay is needed, only openness and curiosity.

Together we’ll build a small, supportive community for two hours and you will take home your unique handmade sculpture with you as a souvenir. Many participants describe these sessions as tender, grounding, and unexpectedly healing.

About the Artist

Simge Vurtak is a ceramic artist and founder of Object Petit a, a practice rooted in clay and reflective making. Her work often draws on themes of migration, emotional landscapes, and the body as a site of both fragility and resilience.

Alongside her studio practice, Simge creates intimate, process-based workshops that invite others to explore their own stories through tactile engagement using clay as a medium for reflection, connection, and release.
