• We practice Total Casting. All ages (𝟏𝟖+), abilities, gender, and ethnicities are encouraged to audition. We're on the hunt for cast members who bring an excellent attitude and are ready to experience and try all the new, rad things this show has to offer!
• Be ready for romance! This show includes intimate scenes and non-traditional pairings for all genders. Intimacy coaching will be provided.

𝐖𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐭𝐨 𝐁𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐠 & 𝐏𝐫𝐞𝐩𝐚𝐫𝐞

• Footwear: Dance or character shoes are welcome, but not required. No sandals or flip flops allowed.
• Musical Accompaniment: A pianist and/or a Bluetooth speaker can be provided for your song.

𝑪𝒉𝒂𝒓𝒂𝒄𝒕𝒆𝒓 𝑫𝒆𝒔𝒄𝒓𝒊𝒑𝒕𝒊𝒐𝒏𝒔:

Basilius (male presenting, he/him/they, approximate age range 30+)
King of Arcadia. A sexy, good ol' boy. A hothead, but not a despot. Blindly thinks Arcadia is doing great under his masculine rule, which will be sorely tested during the course of the show.
Vocal range: High Baritone/Tenor, Ab2-Ab4

Gynecia (female presenting, she/her/they, approximate age range 30+)
Queen of Arcadia. Sexy, wise, beautiful. Like any longstanding spouse, knows how to get her way with her husband when push comes to shove.
Vocal range: Mezzo, Belt, Eb3-E5

Pamela (female presenting, she/her/they, age range 18+)
Basilius and Gynecia's older daughter. Confident and obsessed with her appearance. Known to be the most beautiful bachelorette throughout Arcadia.
Vocal range: Mezzo, High Belt, E3-Ab5

Philoclea (female presenting she/her/they, age range 18+)
Basilius and Gynecia's younger daughter. Shy and a "good girl", she yearns to follow her heart rather than obey her father's orders.
Vocal range: Soprano, G3-B5

Dametas (male presenting, he/him/they, age range 30+)
The King’s viceroy; father to Mopsa.
Vocal range: Baritone, A3-A4

Mopsa (female presenting, she/her/they, age range 18+)
Handmaiden to Pamela. Warm, skeptical. Growing up without a mother has made her wise beyond her years about everyone and everything, which is why she is the (sometime) narrator to the show.
Vocal range: Mezzo/Alto Pop Belt, Bb3-F5

Musidorus (male presenting, he/him/they, age range 18+)
A young shepherd who courts after Philoclea.
Vocal range: Pop Baritone/Tenor, E2-E5

Pythio (non binary, he/him/she/her/they/them, age range 25+)
The Oracle; powerful, mysterious. Demanding. Great sense of humor--can see through everyone--they are the Oracle of Delphi, after all.
Vocal range: Alto or Baritone/Tenor, F#3-B4 as Pythio and G3-Eb4 as the Oracle

Ensemble (he/him, she/her, they/them, ages range 18+)
Unique, charismatic individuals to inhabit the kingdom of Arcadia.
Vocal ranges: Soprano: E4 - A#5 | Alto: B4 - C#5/F#5 | Tenor: C3 - A#4 | Bass: Bb3 - E4/F#4

• Provide your own footwear and undergarments. These must be approved by the production team.

Please note that the weekend before the show opens is the beginning of Tech Week. Saturdays and Sundays during this time are generally 8 to 12-hour days and include the move into the Hylton Performing Arts Center.

Finally, all actors are required to participate in a strike, which happens immediately following the final performance.

Everyone is encouraged to audition. PWLT is committed to diversity in casting, with the caveat that roles are cast so as to preserve the (impact/thrust/point/nature/fundamental) of the production as depicted by the author. Although gender is noted in the character breakdown above, PWLT encourages those of any gender identity to audition for any role in this production.
