Birdland at the Emelin Theatre presents: Catherine Russell and Sean Mason Duo

World-renowned vocalist Catherine Russell will join the prodigious pianist, Sean Mason, for a performance featuring a complete set of voice-and-piano duets that hark back to classic jazz traditions. The New York Native duo recently released their critically acclaimed 2025 GRAMMY-nominated album, My Ideal, marking a significant milestone in their careers, capturing a powerful and intimate musical dialogue. Their collaboration spans a broad spectrum of African-American and American popular music, from blues and R&B to jazz standards and the Great American Songbook.

GRAMMY-winning jazz and blues singer Catherine Russell features song selections from the 1920s through today, with vital interpretations that burst with soul and humor. With her off-the-beaten-path song selection, sparkling acoustic swing, and stunning vocal approach, Catherine Russell has joined the ranks of the greatest interpreters and performers of American Popular Song. Born into musical royalty, Catherine started her professional life at an early age, leading her tour of the world performing and recording with music icons such as David Bowie, Steely Dan, Cyndi Lauper, Jackson Browne, Michael Feinstein, Levon Helm, Paul Simon, Rosanne Cash, Carrie Smith, and many others.
