In tango, the giro transforms depending on whether your axis stays grounded or travels through space.

In this 8-week Intermediate Series, we’ll explore giros with affixed and traveling axes - two essential frameworks that unlock fluidity, creativity, and precision in your turns.

This course builds your rotational vocabulary from the inside out, refining technique, control, and expressive power while connecting each concept to real social-dance application.

Main Focus:

• Understanding the difference between affixed and traveling axes in giros
• Basic alterations of the giro - and how they change the movement flow
• Curving alterations that reshape the geometry of your turns
• Medialuna as a transition and a standalone tool
• Giro with traveling axis using planeo
• Giro with affixed axis enhanced with lapiz and reversed lapiz

Additional Explorations:

• Enrosque fundamentals - how to initiate, sustain, and resolve
• Mastering your free-leg actions: dibujo
• Integrating dibujo into giros for precision and style
• Combining affixed-axis giros with traveling-axis patterns
• Layering lapiz, planeo, and enrosque to elevate your phrasing

If your giros feel flat, repetitive, or unbalanced, this series will teach you how to reshape them - literally. You’ll learn to anchor, spiral, travel, decorate, and control the turn with clean technique and expressive confidence.
