- **Event Description**: Join us for a special Progressive Museum Tour connecting two Central Florida cultural institutions: the Zora Neale Hurston Museum of Fine ArAbout this EventJoin us for a special Progressive Museum Tour connecting two Central Florida cultural institutions: the Zora Neale Hurston Museum of Fine Arts in Eatonville and the Art & History Museums of Maitland.The morning begins at 10:00 AM at the Hurston® Museum with a guided visit to the current exhibition, Value Test: Brown Bag, featuring the work of Mary Graham, a San Francisco–based visual artist recognized for her exploration of race, gender, and identity in American culture. From 10:00–10:45 AM, guests will tour the exhibition alongside the artist and gain insight into the ideas and creative process behind the work.At 10:45 AM, guests will drive or walk to the Art & History Museums of Maitland, where the program continues from 11:00 AM–12:00 PM with an exclusive visit to Mary Graham’s working studio. Visitors will see works in progress from her upcoming body of work and learn about her studio practice. Guests will also hear from Dan Hess, Chief Curator of the Art & History Museums of Maitland, who oversees the museum’s Artist in Residence program.This Progressive Museum Tour celebrates the ongoing partnership between the Hurston® Museum and the Art & History Museums of Maitland. The Maitland campus was founded by artist J. André Smith, who was a friend of famed Eatonville author and anthropologist Zora Neale Hurston, creating a lasting connection between the communities.
