This week at our Holiday Club, we’re celebrating the unsung heroes in our lives – the people who help us every day in our families, schools, and communities. Through a wide variety of imaginative and engaging activities, we’ll explore gratitude, creativity, teamwork, and learning – all while having tons of fun!
Monday – Helping Hands & Creative Starts
We’ll kick off the week by diving into creative mixed media art – painting, gluing, sticking, and crafting with friends. We’ll role-play as school teachers and enjoy group games, outdoor fun in our mud kitchen, and sand & water play. Later, we’ll design colourful thank you cards for our loved ones and bake cakes for a charity cake sale. In the afternoon, we’ll explore road safety by crafting hand-painted traffic lights and paper plate stop signs. The afternoon is packed with action: forest play, gym sessions, and field games, before we welcome coaches from Maidenhead United for an exciting football session. We’ll round off the day with some water play and our group game of Football — a great start to a high-energy week!
Tuesday – Health Heroes & Imaginative Play
The day begins with junk modelling and x-ray print art! We'll challenge our minds with a memory game and explore how doctors and dentists help us stay healthy. Children will enjoy a doctor-themed tuff tray, create salt dough teeth models, and bandage their friends in a fun doctor role play. For our little builders, there’s a LEGO competition too! In the afternoon, we’ll wind down with a calming trip to the school library and story time.
Wednesday – Real-Life Fire-Fighting Superheroes
Time to meet the heroes who don’t wear capes! A special visit from the fire department will give children the chance to explore a real fire engine. We’ll get creative making fire engine-shaped sandwiches, ID badges, and a sensory fire scene in a messy tuff tray. Those who wish can get child-friendly tattoos, and we’ll end the day with a relaxing game of Sleeping Lions.
Thursday – Police Visit & Detective Play & Sublime Science Sensation
We’ll welcome visitors from the Police Department and enjoy hands-on fun making emergency vehicles and painting with car wheels. Children will explore a police van, have their fingerprints taken for fun, and make police hats before stepping into character for a police role play and a detective-style game of I-Spy! Back by popular demand, Sublime Science are coming to us! Get hands-on with cool science experiments - watch things bubble, fizz, and pop in this interactive session!
Friday – Wheels, Safety & First Aid
It’s our Bike & Scooter Day! Children are invited to bring their bikes or scooters (helmets are compulsory) as we learn about road safety and first aid, complete with mini demonstrations. We’ll create x-ray prints with cotton buds and design NHS flags and posters to honour our everyday heroes. To finish the week, we’ll hold a fun Show & Tell – children can bring something special from home (nothing alive or weapon-related!) to share with their friends.
Every day at Holiday Club Each day, children have the choice to take part in a variety of sports and physical activities like basketball, football, skipping, bouldering and bench ball, as well as enjoy a variety of free-time activities including board games, colouring, Lego competitions, group games, and a wide selection of arts and crafts materials to choose from.
