Bray Lake Summer Series Race 4
Throughout the year we run a series of fun and friendly regular race events. It’s a great way to keep fit and get out on the water. Everyone is welcome.
This series we have changed from a board class system to a division based system, similar to what is used in marathon kayaking. More information can be found on the registration page.
The divisions will be as follows,
Division 1 – 13:29 and under
Division 2 – 13:30 – 14:59
Division 3 – 15:00 – 16:29
Division 4 – 16:30 – 17:59
Division 5 – 18:00 and over
This is the time that you complete a 2km time trial on the board you will be using for the series. You will stay in the same division for the rest of the series.
So what happens on a race day?
1 Registration (from 09:00) - Please try and register in advance via our link (a discount is offered to incentivise you) or via a club or staff member with a clipboard or iPad in hand on the day. If you have to register on the day - Be prompt!
2 Briefing (10:00) - An overview of what will happen, such as what type of course there is suitable to the conditions, what divisions and starting sequence are going to be used.
3 Get on the water for the race - A flag maybe raised or whistle blown indicating the start of the starting sequence.
4 Racing - The start sequence begins, with a sound signal start and counting down to the start of the next class start. You then get around the course as quickly as you can, for as many laps as were announced at the briefing. That’s it!
5 Post race - As you go over the finish line you pat yourself on the back and share in the in post race experiences with your fellow paddlers.
We look forward to seeing you for the event - The Bray Lake Team
