Join us for a cozy evening of conversation as we explore Buzz: The Nature and Necessity of Bees by Thor Hanson, an engaging and accessible look at the incredible world of bees and the essential role they play in our ecosystems, agriculture, and daily lives. Through stories from scientists, farmers, and everyday observers, Hanson reveals how these remarkable pollinators quietly shape harvests, landscapes, and food systems around us. 

This gathering is more than a discussion. It is a space to pause, reflect, and share insights inspired by the book while enjoying curated charcuterie and the warm atmosphere of The Hive with founder-led conversation guided by Jessica, beekeeper and owner of The Hive. Ask questions about bees, beekeeping, and the lessons of the hive and experience thoughtful discussion connecting the book to everyday life while enjoying light charcuterie and community connection. 

Whether you’ve read every page prior to the discussion or are just starting the book and are simply curious, you are welcome! 

Book Description: Buzz: The Nature and Necessity of Bees

It’s time to take a journey through the natural and cultural history of bees, starting a whopping 125 million years ago when a particularly innovative wasp decided to feed pollen to its young. Buzz: The Nature and Necessity of Bees covers everything from honeybees to diggers, miners, leafcutters, and masons, highlighting how bees are at the core of our harvests, mythologies, and even our existence. It’s so un-bee-lievably interesting, you yourself will be doing the honeybee’s waggle dance after reading it! 

NOTE: If you are unable to attend the gathering you can still pick up your Charcuterie creation anytime this week 9/28-10/3 during our operating hours.
