For many of us, venison has always been part of life, a freezer shared by family, biltong hung in winter, meat given freely rather than sold.
Yet fewer people today are taught how to truly finish a hunt, how to process, cure, preserve and honour the animal from start to end.
This July, Wickedfood Earth Farm hosts a two-day Venison Charcuterie Workshop rooted in heritage, ethics and slow food values, reconnecting hunters to the skills that once defined self-reliance and respect for the land.
This is not about trophies.
It’s about responsibility, knowledge, and doing the animal justice.

When: 11 to 12 July 
Where: Wickedfood Earth Country Cooking School, R560, Hekpoort, Gauteng, in the Magalies Valley.
Cost: R4 490pp for both days, includes, all ingredients, extensive notes and lunches on both days.
