Come and explore Springdale Cemetery, one of Indiana’s most historic cemeteries, on a self-guided walking tour. You will hear tales of Jefferson County and Madison’s past from actors portraying past residents.

Hosted by the Jefferson County Historical Society in partnership with Springdale Cemetery. Join us for what is sure to be a fun evening at Springdale Cemetery on May 15, 2026 from 5:00-9:00pm. Hear never before told stories, step inside the Oglesby mausoleum, and take in the beautiful spring weather all while engaging with our rich local history. This is an event for all! Whether you intend to grab dinner and attend with friends or bring the entire family, this event is sure to have something for everyone. Come learn local history in a relaxed, informal setting. You will not want to miss out on this unique experience!

Advance tickets are available for purchase through Madtix or in person at the Jefferson County History & Art Center (615 W 1st Street, Madison IN). There will also be a ticket booth at the event where tickets can be purchased the night of May 15.

Tickets are $20 in advance, $25 night of the event - 16 and under are free. Children 16 and under require a chaperone.

Tales from Springdale is a fundraiser for the Jefferson County Historical Society and Springdale Cemetery.

Rain Date is Friday, May 29.

Please be advised that some speakers will be located off the path, and will only be reachable via uneven ground. This event is not ADA accessible. 

No vehicles will be allowed in the cemetery. We recommend parking on Broadway Street and walking to the cemetery entrance.
