Navigating The Intersection Of Digital Marketing and Social Justice - A Panel Discussion

Join us and learn how to make your support inclusive, representative, and authentic. We will have three major agencies that provide services to underrepresented communities to discuss the cheers and areas to grow.


Cultural competency dos and don'ts when it comes to helping communities of color and marginalized communities in a social media setting

Understand specific challenges these movements are facing with respects to outreach

Ideas for engaging your employees in social justice by making it fun

How to engage with social justice agencies in a way that is beneficial to them

Best practices for having authentic representation in social media

Real-life examples of when the media gets it wrong when addressing or highlighting an agency that focuses on communities of color.


Araceli Esparza  | Community Shares of Wisconsin

Araceli's mission is to break the isolation of Latina women living in the Midwest. With close to 10 years of being a cultural bridge for many local organizations, she has built a reputation of organizing engaging events that foster community and continue building change. Trained as a storyteller with a unique background in digital organizing, communications, strategic planning provides her clients with advantages to cultivating authentic relationships with their audiences. She is also a podcast host at 


Zon Moua | Youth Organizing at Freedom:  Zon Moua is a Queer, Femme, Hmoob women born and raised in Wisconsin. She is currently the Director of Youth Organizing at Freedom, Inc. Zon introduces Black and Southeast Asian youth to social justice movements through direct services, leadership development, and community organizing with innovative art, music and dance programming. Her passion for youth justice has led her to organize on the issue of policing in schools and the criminalization of young people of color. Through her work, she hopes to not only transform herself, but her community in raising the visibility of Queer, Trans, Black, and Southeast Asian leadership and liberation.

Baltazar De Anda-Santana | Orgullo Latinx LGBT+:  Baltazar is an immigrant who grew up in Mexico and came to the United States when he was 23 years old. Baltazar is the co- founder and director of Orgullo Latinx LGBT+ of Dane County. Orgullo Latinx thrives to support and enhance the lives of the Latinx LGBT+ community in Dane County. Orgullo Latinx LGBT+’s mission is to build a safe, ethnically, equitable and racial social just place for the Latinx LGBT+ community in Dane County where the LGBT+ community can thrive. Baltazar is also the co-founder and executive director of the Latino Academy of Workforce Development. The Latino Academy strengthens our community through bilingual adult education, job training, and employment programs. Baltazar has been working in the nonprofit arena in Dane County since 2007. 

Brian Juchems | GSAFE Wisconsin:  

Brian has been at the forefront of fostering inclusive schools in Wisconsin for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, and questioning (LGBTQ+) youth since 1998 when he migrated to Madison from rural Iowa where he had previously worked as a residence hall director for Luther College. Brian J. co-founded and grew GSAFE’s annual Leadership Training Institute into a 4-day summer camp for high school students across Wisconsin to develop their skills as activists, allies, and agents of change. In 2002 Brian J formally joined GSAFE’s staff and has served as lead trainer, where he has regularly provided engaging professional development for tens of thousands of K-12 educators with an approachable and playful Midwest sensibility. In 2005 Brian J. partnered with Madison students to successfully pass the state’s first district-level transgender-inclusive nondiscrimination policy and has since worked with dozens of districts to take similar steps. Throughout 2016-2017, with the support of the Wisconsin Partnership Program and Gender Spectrum, Brian J. developed and piloted GSAFE’s Gender Inclusive Schools Project, a multi-level approach that helps school districts create systemic change towards the health and well-being of transgender and non-binary students. A frequent collaborator with Wisconsin’s Department of Public Instruction, Brian J remains a sought-after trainer and consultant for Wisconsin’s K-12 school.
