Join the Nature Journal Club at the the Lewis Nine Springs E-Way. It consists of a large marsh plus sedge meadows, woodlands and many large springs. There is a lovely wooden path there to walk through the marsh. I’ll start off giving some quick tips on interesting things to notice and record in your journal. Then we’ll split up to find what’s interesting to us, journal, and meet back up to discuss what we journaled about near the end of the event.
DETAILS:
- MEETING SPOT: Meet at the trailhead off of the Nine Springs E-Way parking lot.
- WHAT TO BRING: drawing supplies. A pencil and paper works, or anything fancier. You may also want to bring a sketching stool as there may not be benches in convenient areas. I will probably have a couple extra with me to borrow.
- WHO SHOULD COME? People of all ages welcome (children should be accompanied by an adult. No experience needed.
- ACCESSIBILITY: there is accessible parking. Much of the trail is a wooden plank path.

WHAT IS NATURE JOURNALING?
Nature journaling is more than drawing or painting pictures--we also write questions and notes in our sketchbooks to wonder more deeply about nature. We’ll talk briefly about ideas of what to write, such as the writing prompts "I notice... I wonder... It reminds me of..." You'll also get some nature journaling tips about ways you could document things that you may see at the event location.
