In this hands-on workshop led by artist Carlee Latimer, we’ll once again lift Together-together* from the gallery wall and gather around the quilting frame to continue exploring the collaborative, creative process of discovering all that a quilt can be.
To advance the process, we’ll review the Polaroid messages shared by visitors so far, reflect on emerging themes, and make our next round of design and composition decisions. Then, we’ll continue stitching—this time using the naturally dyed floss created with the Allen Centennial Garden during our previous session.
As we work, we’ll engage in different forms of learning, listening, and sharing, watching the quilt’s visual identity unfold through our collective hands and imaginations. Whether you love making quilts, talking about them, or are simply quilt-curious, there’s a place for you here. No sewing experience is needed!
*Together-together is a collaborative, evolving quilt project by Carlee Latimer, featured in Find Your Quilt. Throughout the exhibition, visitors are invited to interact with the piece by completing the prompt “Quilts Are… ____” using interchangeable letters displayed in the gallery. Each response will be temporarily spelled out in the quilt’s pockets and captured with a Polaroid—becoming part of its ongoing story. These contributions will eventually be incorporated into the final version of the quilt.
