Frank Bang live at Grant’s Lounge
📅 March 14, 2026
Willie Dixon once said, “The blues are the roots and the other musics are the fruits.”
True as that is, the blues still can’t be explained. It can only be felt.
And Frank Bang makes you feel it.
Rooted in Chicago blues and sharpened by sheer grit, Frank Bang is as raw and uncompromising as the music itself. He’s the nicest guy you’ll ever meet—until he picks up a guitar. Then all bets are off. He might break your heart, steal your dance partner, make you cry, or make you move. One way or another, you’ll feel something. Probably everything.
Born Frank Blinkal and raised in a working-class Chicago family, Bang learned early about hard work and hard truths. He poured that lived experience into the blues, immersing himself in the heart of the Chicago music scene. In his twenties, he worked at Buddy Guy’s Legends while fronting his own bands, learning firsthand from icons like Junior Wells, Otis Rush, and Lonnie Brooks.
That grind paid off. Frank went on to become Buddy Guy’s touring guitarist for five years, sharing stages around the world with legends including Robert Plant, The Rolling Stones, and Eric Clapton. The chops were earned. The work ethic never stopped.
As a solo artist, Frank Bang has released four critically acclaimed albums under Frank Bang and the Secret Stash and Frank Bang and the Cook County Kings, with 14 songs currently in regular rotation on B.B. King’s Bluesville (SiriusXM).
Whether it’s dirty, speaker-blown blues that feels like Zeppelin by way of Chicago, or a faithful nod to his hometown roots, Frank Bang knows how to read a room—and then light it on fire.
