About The Craig Russo Latin Jazz Project The Craig Russo Latin Jazz Project combines outstanding jazz soloists, rich Afro-Cuban-inspired rhythms, and unique arrangements of jazz standards. Led by drumset artist and percussionist Craig Russo, the group draws on Russo’s extensive study of Afro-Cuban music, including work at Cuba’s National School of Arts in Havana. Russo has toured Cuba with Charanga Tropical, the first American group ever invited to perform at the International Festival of Danzón, and has performed with Grammy-winning Cuban salsa singer Mayito Rivera and Tito Puente, Jr. The group takes familiar jazz repertoire and reimagines it through Latin rhythms, creating an engaging, tropical, rhythmic jazz style.
