Curious about weaving but not sure where to begin? This three-week introductory series will give you hands-on experience with several approaches to weaving while building an understanding of the basic techniques that they share.

Session 1: Weaving on a Frame Loom | October 10
Start with the fundamentals; Learn how a simple frame loom works, how to set up your warp, and how to weave using basic techniques. You’ll get comfortable with essential weaving vocabulary and begin creating your own woven piece.

Session 2: Weaving on a Circular Loom | October 17
Take your skills in a new direction with circular weaving. Learn how to set up and weave on a hoop while exploring how shape changes the possibilities for pattern, texture, and design.

Session 3: Special Topics in Weaving | October 24
Get a glimpse of where your new weaving skills can take you. We’ll explore additional weaving techniques and equipment, including an introduction to floor looms, how larger looms are warped and set up, and other special topics that will help you understand the wider world of handweaving.

This series is designed for absolute beginners. No previous weaving experience is necessary. By the end of the three classes, you’ll have experience with multiple forms of weaving, an understanding of the basic principles behind the craft, and a foundation for continuing to explore weaving on your own.

PRICE: $80 includes six hours of instruction and all materials.

MEET YOUR INSTRUCTOR: Originally from Schaumburg, Eboni Bellott now lives in Macomb with her husband and children. She graduated from Eastern Illinois University in 2005 with a concentration in Fine Arts. Eboni is a prolific weaver and a member of the Macomb Fiberarts Guild.
