Is learning to ride a bike hard? It can be!
Getting comfortable on the bike is one thing, but feeling confident enough to ride next to moving vehicles can make anyone a little nervous!
The Bike Pop-Ups are a free monthly series of temporary "safety town" obstacle course events that will run at Patton Park from May-September to help people of all ages learn how to share the road without traffic or pressure! Identify different road signs, practice signals, learn about bike safety, and enjoy a light, self-guided ride through the park!
Participants are strongly encouraged to bring their own bicycle as available bikes to borrow are extremely limited as we are on the search for sponsors to help build the fleet numbers.
We Need Wheels!
The Macomb Park District is looking for sponsors to help build a community bike fleet with a variety of sizes for kids, teens, and adults to borrow for FREE during Bike Pop-Up events.
Owning a bike can be a costly commitment — especially if you’ve never ridden before or aren’t sure if cycling is right for you. The Bike Fleet removes that barrier by offering up to five Bike Pop-Up opportunities each year for community members to try two-wheel transportation at no cost, in a supportive and educational environment.
Beyond the Pop-Ups, the bike fleet will be available from spring-fall for low-cost hourly rentals — helping remove barriers to access high-quality bikes at an affordable rate, supporting healthier habits, confidence-building, and lifelong cycling skills.
