Photo Embroidery Workshop
Wednesday, January 28th, 5:30 – 8:00
Take a treasured memory and turn it into a glimmering keepsake in this workshop with artist and educator Becky Lee. In this workshop, you will transform a favorite photograph into a shimmering work of art. You will learn how to embroider a starburst pattern onto a photo of your choosing with metallic thread.
Participants will need to bring their own photograph, see tips for selecting photo below. All other supplies will be provided.
Tips for Picking a Photograph
For best results, you'll want to pick the right image for this project. Follow the tips below for best results:
* Photos should be either 5x7" or 8x10" and printed on matte paper (sometimes called lustre) is preferred (Glossy shows fingerprints and the metallic thread does not show up as well on glossy finish).
* Have a single focal point that can be the center of your starburst, Focal point shouldn't be too small or too big—you want the subject to be at least 1-1.5" at the smallest point when printed, but if your focal point is too big there won't be space for your embroidery, Printing from a professional photo printing lab is preferred to home printers (even photo printers).
* Everything new takes a little practice, consider bringing an extra copy of your photo.
